Es un libro muy bien documentado que fue publicado solo despues de 10 a�os de buscar y comprobar hechos ocurridos.
Felicito al Sr. Gavin Menzies y su grupo por tan extraordinario trabajo que me ha permitido encontrar respuestas a preguntas que todo ser racional se ha hecho acerca del viaje inicial de Cristobal Colon y los posteriores "aventureros" que circunnavegaron el mundo de aquella epoca.

Amazing document

I rated 4 star for this book cause I like this issues very much. How advanced were the Chinese during the Middle Age impress me. I have never been thought in the school about it. I am from Argentina and the Middle Age's History classes were just about Europe. Menzies described the influences of the Chinese Culture all over the World and how their discoveries contribute to other cultures worldwide.

I had an opportunity to ready and review this book even before I purchased it at Amazon.com. The book is very well thought out, easy to find the answers to specific restoration and concours questions and filled with specific picture examples.
This book is a must library addition for any owner of the Austin Healey marque both for reference and the enjoyment of reading about interesting insights into the history of the cars and the people who were the inspiration behind the production of the cars.

IF and only IF . . .

If and ONLY if you are actively restoring a "Big Healey" for concours, this is a very useful book. When the authors call it a "restoration guide" they mean something very specific. Concours fanatics care about things like plating on screw heads, and the texture of wire loom tape. This book is crammed full of such stultifyingly dull minutae. It's powerful in the hands of a concours restorer, but almost useless if you're a shade tree mechanic trying to figure out how to replace a rusty fender. For everyone else it's guaranteed instant somnulence. Try and read any 5 pages of this book. I guarantee you you're snoring before you've turned two pages. But again, if you're a Healey concours fanatic, this is your book, man. Read it, live it, love it.

This bood is as good as it gets

I have to say this is probably one of the single best restoration guides written for any car. Extensively researched it will give you everything you need to know to do a award winning restoration of the Big Healey. It doesn't really go into mechanical restoration because that's what the shop manual is for - this book covers all the little trim, paint and various details not covered in any other book. This book is absolutely fantastic.

A Fine Anthology by Any Standard

I have found that these single-subject anthologies do more than attempt to provide a baseline of knowledge of a given subject, they also act as an advertisement to get readers to further explore subject. On that note, I can summarize the quality of this anthology in three words: I am sold. I was so rapt in reading the "old school" pragmatists that I ended up going to the library and snagging the whole volumes that are included in the anthology, as well as some other by Peirce and James. Coming at this volume with only "The Varieties of Religious Experience" under my belt, I feel as though I have a pretty solid understanding on what pragmatism means, the kinds of ideas it advances, and the general sentiments of its proponents, regardless of what area of thought they specialize in (psychology, philosophy proper, law, social justice, etc.) -and it is thanks to the assortment of works compiled, here. I really do feel as though the texts chosen and edited create a very thematic whole, one in which I easily saw the isomorphisms among the choices.

Overall, I recommend this work to anyone seeking to just get feel for pragmatism, in general, or someone who is looking into whether they may want to read deeply into the pragmatists; or if you know approximately what the pragmatists are about, but don't know which ones you would like to read. I very much enjoyed this book.

Eye-openingly Good!

This book is astounding! It manages to accomplish in around 500 pages the twin tasks of giving a functional outline of the rise and rise of pragmatic thought and also to give examples, old and new, of that same pragmatic thought. The three more well-known "founders" (popularisers) of this philosophical method slash attitude are here in C.S. Peirce, William James and John Dewey along with an interesting selection of more modern pragmatists, such as Richard Rorty (of course!), Cornel West and Hilary Putnam. One name that is missing from the contemporary selection is Stanley Fish, but since he seems to aim his sights indiscriminately he may be thought to be rather roguish for this sane and coherent selection of writings that the editor, Louis Menand, has pulled together.
In his introductory piece Menand charts Pragmatism's birth in the universities of north eastern America in the second half of the nineteenth century and points up some of its distinctives (of which there are very few and deliberately so). This piece is worth the price of the book itself for its clarity, insight and authority. The choices Menand makes in presenting the pragmatic thinkers will always be one of judgment and decision (Are the two writings he chooses from Richard Rorty's work, "Philosophy as a Kind of Writing" and "Postmodernist Bourgeois Liberalism" really more appropriate to this collection? I would choose others.) and we may quibble with one or two and suggest others but Menand has made his choices and given his rationale and we, as readers, can ask no more. What is served up is insightful and powerful (when taken together) as an example of pragmatic thoughts in practice and, as such, demonstrates the oft written thought of William James that Pragmatism "does not stand for any special results. It is a method only." James means that pragmatists don't have to agree to be pragmatic for being pragmatic is "trac[ing] out in the imagination the conceivable practical consequences.....of the affirmation or denial" (C.S. Peirce) of whatever belief, truth or proposal you have in mind. Thus, we realise that Pragmatism as a philosophy is at least contextual, subjective and case by case. As a reader in Pragmatism this book does a superb job of demonstrating this and Menand, as editor, is to be congratulated. Much recommended.

Helpful and interesting. 3-stars...but I'm hard to please...

A good selection of readings with all sorts different authors. Putnam, James, Rorty, Dewy and West--just to name a few. The selections are interesting and varied enough to give the beginner to pragmatism an interesting first or second taste. For those that are more familiar with pragmatism, this gives a selection of authors that one may not be familiar with (be they contemporaries like Putnam or one of the originators like Dewey). Pragmatism apart from being (arguably) "true" (and any pragmatist should understand the scare quotes) is also a whole lot of fun!! An anthology with variety and short-ish readings is doubly so. Also, the introduction I think, is to be commended. It's pretty good and would be worth reading apart from this collection.

Amazing and intriguing at the same time.

This book has everything you want to know about crystals. I didn't really know about the uses of crystal so that makes my reason for getting this book. I am lucky to know many things about crystal by just downloading this. I learned that crystals can absorb negative energy, can be programmed, can be cleansed so it can be used again. That crystal healing is an alternative treatment that is non-invasive. They are really amazing and intriguing at the same time. Sean Parker says the treatment can harmonize the body, mind, spirit, and emotions while increasing feelings of well-being. This book is easy to read and well-organized. Sean also explains how crystals function when healing. This book is interesting and well-researched.

One Strange Book

What a strange book. This book is full of information about different crystals and supposed healing powers, the author certainly did a lot of research into the subject. I find it a little weird how people believe that a rock (crystal) has the ability to heal your body of various ailments. While it does have a ton of information, I do not now nor will I ever put my faith in a rock for healing, but to each their own. You can tell the author took a lot of time to write this book as it seems well researched and edited. Mr. Parker did a fine job writing about a subject he obviously believes in. Well done! I recommend this book only to those who believe in this sort of thing.

This is really an impressive. It is really hard to gather knowlegde about the gem stones. Most of the people dont know much about gem stones like what are they used for and what is their benefit. This book gives a clear description of all the unknown facts about gems..

This is the text that is currently being used for the undergraduate class "Principles of Controlled Thermonuclear Fusion" NPRE421, at the University of Illinois. Inside you will find that a good background in fusion fundamentals as well as plasma physics are presented in Chapters 1-10. The remainder of the text relates every substantial area of fusion research going on in the world, from Tokamaks to Muon Catalyed Fusion ala 1970. I have yet to come across another tome with as much breadth and depth as Dolan has. He began his career in 1983 as an account executive with E. F. Hutton, where he led the office in opening new account relationships. Following that position, Mike transitioned into wholesaling with Colonial Investments and Pilgrim Funds, where he was recognized for leading the most-improved sales team. He then went on to spend 13 years as regional VP with Oppenheimer Funds. While at Oppenheimer, Mike conducted seminars to assist financial advisors in building their practices, and his territories surpassed the company’s growth rate every year. Most recently, Mike served as executive vice president and head of distribution for an RIA. Mike is a graduate of the University of New Orleans with a bachelor of science degree in finance.

Although this book has great application in the financial services industry

As a colleague of Mike Sciortino for 20 years, I witnessed first hand an individual who was the embodiment
of a true professional and expert in marketing and relationship building.
His sterling reputation in the financial services industry speaks for itself!
Gratitude Marketing is a concise blueprint or road map on how to successfully build and maintain lasting,
long-term relationships through the use of practical, time-tested concepts that too often get overlooked in
today's world dominated by social media.
Although this book has great application in the financial services industry, Mike's invaluable strategies are
transferable to almost any marketing effort in any industry involving client interaction.
This well-conceived book is a terrific resource for any professional looking to build and maintain meaningful,
lasting relationships.
It is a book full of wisdom, common sense and insight. It is well worth reading.

Great Book, Worth Reading!

Gratitude Marketing is a great resource that successfully guides you in ways to connect with clients and build and retain your business rather than just sell a product. Over the years I have considered myself rather good at networking and relationship building. After reading this book I have found new ways to enhance my personal business model. The premise is simple, by expressing appreciation to your clients and reinforcing that you truly care about their experience working together, you will create clients for life. Over time I believe by incorporating these ideas, it will change and help grow my business while keeping a loyal clientele. Gratitude Marketing is a quick read with many common sense ideas that can have an immediate impact on your practice. I would recommend it to every salesperson that is serious about growing there business.

Walking the Walk

Having been acquainted with Mike and his stellar career, it does not surprise me that his book has arrived on the Best Seller List. All sales rep's, especially financial advisers, have two mandates for success. The first is providing a solution for a clients' problem with honest diligence; the second is allowing a trusting relationship to be built linking the adviser and the client for a lasting relationship. Particularly, financial advisers are somewhat unique as once an implementation of recommendations are made the outcome is exposed to a plethora of exogenous factors. Like Mike tells us in Gratitude Marketing, a lasting relationship begins with "total, respect, understanding, sincerity, thoughtfulness," TRUST, and deepening the relationship with displays of kindness preserves the path.
