Well done, though no MMIs

I am a health communication professor and I work closely with the university's premed program. I sometimes do trainings prepping the students for their med school interviews and many of my students have been successfully admitted to med school. Over the years I have gathered dozens of books in this topic. This book is in my top 10 favorites.This is a great book and I think that anyone preparing for an interview will find it to be incredibly useful. When my students ask for resources, this is in the list of book titles I give them. I would also like to point out that, in my opinion, the two best books to help you prep are The Medical School Interview: Winning Strategies from Admissions Faculty and Multiple Mini Interview (MMI): Winning Strategies from Admissions Faculty Start with the general one, and spend some serious time on it. Don't skip the 'why do you want to be a doctor' and 'what is professionalism' sections, they are gold! Then if you are informed that you will have an MMI, go ahead and read the other one. If you won't have an MMI, I would still consider browsing through it because it gives you interesting ethical questions to think on, which should get your medical communication juices flowing and ready for an interview!
As someone who helps train prospective med school students, I want to emphasize that whatever book you buy, you need to practice. Practice out loud and hopefully to another person who is listening to you and providing feedback.

Excellent read. As a reapplicant that failed to move past the interview stage last cycle, I need to give special kudos and thanks to Dr. Fleenor for writing such an informative and helpful book for helping applicants approach what I consider the hardest stage of gaining admission into medical school. I especially loved how he helps the applicant visualize what the adcoms are looking for and really puts things in perspective.

Reading this book made a significant impact on how I performed on my most recent interviews during this new cycle, and I am proud to say that I have been accepted at one of my top choices.

Would recommend for the med school applicant

I liked this book. It gives a little bit of perspective to applicants from the interviewers/school's POV. Though, I don't think that it provides exceptionally "secret" information, I think the author does a really good job trying to get the reader to really think about their answer, especially to the general questions. I think it helped me with my interview and also answering my secondary application questions. It helped me change the perspective of how I answer the questions.

About the Author
Jane Thompson was born and raised in Oklahoma City. She attended the University of Oklahoma, where she received a Master’s Degree. When she was 37, she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and started a long journey to find the proper medications. When she finally did so, after five years, she was able to obtain employment as a social worker, a teacher, a paralegal, as well as a writer. She now lives in Georgetown, Texas. Ms. Thompson wrote two books about bipolar disorder, one a memoir about her life with the disorder, and the other a primer for the newly diagnosed and their families to help them understand and manage this common illness. Her third book, Reboot, is a novel of bipolar disorder.

Enthralling Storyline; Not Just a Review of Bipolar Disorder

A well-penned tale taking you into the deep corridors of a young woman's mind as she painfully struggles to gain control of her life, while unknowingly being accosted by the dynamics of bi-polar disorder. Marie is smart as a whip, a member of MENSA, yet, finds her world unraveling a little a more each year. Misdiagnosed and mistakenly medicated, she moves through jobs and relationships until she teeters on the edge of disaster.

The story is solid and stands on its own, but might be of particular interest to someone suffering from bi-polar disorder or someone acquainted with a person inflicted with the condition.

reboot is a sensitive story about a woman who has bipolar disorder and who is able to regain her life by finding the right medication and overcoming the obstacles of her illness. She goes through many disappointments as she tries to right her life, but refuses to give up. Its an inspirational story that will speak to those with and without this disease

Reboot is not just about Bipolar Disorder, but the spare and painful story of a highly intelligent woman's struggle through the last half of the last century. Self-esteem in sexual relationships, and in finding jobs after our heroine gets a Master's degree, is crucial, but absent during the first part of the book. When she finally finds the right treatment for her particular disorder, her mood swings slow down and she starts acquiring a better life all around.

Anyone who has suffered through any emotional problems would enjoy this book for the sly humor, and the late victory of self-love that she needed at the beginning. It was hard-won, and that much more meaningful to see this personality finally acquire the self -respect that should have been her birthright. It's a fast-paced and enjoyable read.

It took a very persistent character in the company of a treasured Muse to finally get the first novel going. The fact that he was gay came as a bit of a surprise, but it explained a lot. Ever since, Sage has been the willing slave to all the fascinating guys who just keep queuing up and want their stories told. This has resulted in several manuscripts at various stages of completion, so there's always something to work on - preferably at night when the rest of the house is asleep. Sage's characters often have a dramatic and sometimes traumatic past and need to battle some demons to be with the one they love. It doesn't hurt that they usually get quite a lot of naughty action along the way! Sage loves to hear from readers, so go ahead please…

Loved it!

Another book filled with complex, characters who don't do what you'd expect. Fantastic. I was uncertain the entire way how this was going to play out, the author and his characters kept me guessing. I was ready to throttle Bryan and wanted to have a frank discussion with Dan - giving him lots of cuddles. Highly recommended.

Like all of Sage's books, I couldn't wait for this one when it first came out, and I can't believe I didn't leave a review. Every book I read by this author is my favourite, then the next one comes out and that soon becomes my favourite. This one has stuck in my top five books by any author though, which proves how much I love it. These two men are well thought out and deep characters who you fall in love with and want to follow them through their life. Sage's books are always bittersweet, and I love the edge each character has which makes them stand out from so many other characters I read about. There’s mystery, romance, great sex, and it’s all perfectly written.

Captivating from beginning to end

Daniel Eames is appointed to protect a slightly brattish, young movie star who has been receiving letters from a mysterious stalker. His agent has arranged the protection to look after her most valuable asset, but it seems neither of them are happy with the arrangement.

Daniel wants to be professional, do his job to the best of his ability, but what he didn’t count on was his charges magnetic personality which pulls him close, too close for comfort ad to keep the assignment on an entirely professional footing.

Bryan is young, attractive and extremely devious. He knows the effect his charms have on people and uses them to get what he wants. There are times when he doesn’t always get it his own way and he really doesn’t like it. He can be childlike in his reactions at times, storming off and throwing strops of almost epic proportions, but how much of this is his real personality, and how much is his merely playing his role as one of Hollywood’s hottest rising stars to perfection.

Bryan has secrets, a lot of them. For a man very much in the public eye, so much is kept hidden away. You do get glimpses and teases of what these might be throughout the book, but never quite enough to work out the underlying mystery, or what he is trying so hard to hide from everyone. I actually stopped trying to work it out, and just settled back and enjoyed the ride. I’m glad I just went with it as there is no way I could’ve or would’ve ever guessed what would be revealed in the end, IF I had, it would’ve spoiled the surprise at the end of the book.

These two characters are well rounded and totally perfect together. They fit together well and although it’s not a smooth or easy relationship they have, but if it had been it wouldn’t have worked as well as it did for me. The interaction between them was believable, also very hot and steamy at times, it was, as always with Sage’s writing, perfectly balanced.
I was totally drawn into this story from the first page, and was captivated until the last, and was definitely left wanting more, which is nothing new!

Sage’s writing is captivating and pulls me inside the book with the characters and I can honestly say, he is now one of my favourite authors, and this book, one of the best he has written in my opinion.

Auschwitz, an ordinary town?

I felt that this book was an extremely interesting book that gave a different view on the transformation of the Polish town Auscwitz. The book explains how it was once an ordinary town that soon became one of the leading concentration camps in the Nazi era. The book explains the different stages the town went through from 1270 to the present. It was once a small Polish town, then a production site for gravel and sand, later an execution site, a place where Himmler wanted to build a farm communities, and then the answer to the "Jewish" question.
What I liked about this book was that it gave a mass amount of illustrations, ranging from pictures to graphs to building plans. This book also had some eye witness accounts from the view of the Jewish survivals, explaining what their feelings and reactions were during this time. The book is broken into two parts: Nostalgia and Fullfillment and Ambition and Perdition. The first part explains the history of the town and the second part starts off with the concentration camp. The Epilogue, "Owning and Disowning Auschwitz" I thought gave a quick and interesting view on the town today and what happend to it after the fall of the Nazi's. It briefly explains the problmes that arose afterwards and the concentration camp today.
After giving the history of Auschwitz,the authors end with a question that still haunts the Jewish people today, Why?

Insightful use of architectural records

This book skillfully combines a history of German influence in the East with a detailed look at the death and labor camps of Auschwitz. Using the architectural records left behind as well as statements of people who were there to outline the story, the authors trace the development and changes of the Auschwitz camps from 1939 to the present day. The skillful use of architectural plans provides insight into the changing purposes the camp adapted to in its short but terrible life. Also, the authors trace the German influence in the area back to the founding of the town in 1270 and relate the camp's shifting purpose to the territorial goals of the Germans in the East both before and during the war.

Simone Milasas had been a world traveler, finding exotic wares from India, Thailand and Nepal to sell at local markets in Australia, her home country. How does it get any better than this..?

I have my own business and after reading this book and also listening to the audio book, my business i starting to do better. I understand my points of views better and see where I sometimes stagnate. Then I ask questions and suddenly there is a better flow in my business again.

The book is best understood if you are familiar with Access Conciousness. So if you don't know what that is - do some research :-) It will change your life!
